Binod Chaudhary became rich through his entrepreneurial ventures, which began with a nightclub called Copper Floor in Kathmandu, Nepal. He later ventured into various industries, including beer, electronics, hotels, and even a controlling stake in Nepal’s Nabil Bank. His most well-known enterprise is his brand of instant noodles, Wai Wai, which has a 20% market share in India and 3% in other countries.

Chaudhary’s family has a history of entrepreneurship, with his grandfather starting a textile business in Nepal after immigrating from Rajasthan, India. Chaudhary’s business path has seen him traverse the power structures in Nepal, both under the monarchy and in subsequent civilian governments, leading to controversies throughout his career. Despite these challenges, he has continued to expand his businesses and make a significant impact on Nepal’s economy.

In addition to his business ventures, Chaudhary has also been involved in charitable work, book writing, and filmmaking. His autobiography, “Binod Chaudhary: Atmakatha,” was published in 2013 and later translated into English by journalist Sanjeev Ghimire, titled “From the Streets of Kathmandu to a Multi-billion-dollar Empire”.
